Three Things You Should Know About Fitness Email Marketing
I hope you're doing awesome!
I subscribe to a lot of personal trainer email lists because I want to know how you're marketing.
But recently I've discovered that most fitness trainers – at least those who's lists I'm on – are doing a horrible job with fitness email marketing.
So I thought I'd give you some quick tips on how to kill it with email marketing.
But first, there's something you should know…
No one is going to come to your website and buy a personal training or boot camp program.
It just doesn't work that way.
Sure you might go to a website and buy a widget or book, but those are usually one time, low price point sales.
For you, fitness email marketing is what's going to make the difference between okay sales and CRUSH IT sales.
Check this out. I'll give you two scenarios…
Scenario 1. Suspect finds your site, spends a few minutes on it and bails out – never to be seen again.
Scenario 2. Suspect finds your site, sees the offer for your free fat loss or flat abs report and decides to opt in and download it. BANG!… this person's now a prospect on your fitness email marketing list.
After reading your report and getting a few awesome emails from you full of content and stuff the prospects naturally comes to the conclusion that you're the local fitness and fat loss expert and she aught get on a training program with you.
Check out how Sam and Josh have their lead generators…

And on that note… don't just fire up a dorky lead gen or opt in. Make it enticing, use images of the report, fire some benefit bullets – YOUR job is to get the suspect to give your their email address.
A crappy lead gen is not gonna cut it.
Now that you know how to build a list lets talk about the three things you gotta do with your fitness email marketing to convert prospects on your list into paying clients.
Thing #1: The subject line
This is like the headline for your email. If the subject line is weak or uninteresting no one is going to open up your email and if they don't open… they don't buy.
Here are some of my favorite subject lines…
- bad news
- sorry about that
- I need your opinion
- I made a big mistake
- Check this out (video inside)
- Thank you
- Don't trust this guy
- Do you know anyone like this?
Once you get that email opened it's time to sell… (kinda)
Thing #2: Be cool
If you wouldn't send the email to your mom or your best friend then don't send it out to your list.
Folks get a lot of emails these days. And if they were kind enough to give and trust you with their email address don't abuse it. Fitness email marketing is about establishing and maintaining relationships.
Send your list stuff that they signed up for. Be cool and be consistent with your emails. Don't just mail out when you need money. Over deliver on content, educate and entertain – then you can sell.
Thing #3: Sell the click
Here's where 99.9% of everyone gets it wrong.
Email marketing is about selling the click not the product (or service in your case). All you want your email subscriber to do is to click the link, and go to your sales page…
… and your sales page will do the selling.
And be sure to Click here and try out FitPro Newsletter for 30 days for just $1 (it's the number one fitness email marketing solution – and the whole thing is fully automated to get you clients).

Awesome Bedros….Just having you around keeps me on my toes…You Da Man
Great post as usual Bedros! I was just getting ready to send an email to past campers to get them back for the Holidays and your email pop into my inbox. What timing! Thanks for all you do and give! You get it:)
Awesome Bedros! Thanks for sharing.
I have the benefit bullets but not the images of the report. Do you know how/where I can make them? If you wouldn't mind emailing me at the email I gave above that'd be great as I won't know when you reply to this post.
Tyron
hey thanks for this – i've just added a new landing page with my free week offer etc but might try adding my e-products instead of the free week.
Cheers

Thanks Bedros…
Great reminders and your FitPro Newsletter is awesome! My clients (and potential clients) have something positive to say about it EVERY month!
Aussie Bedros,
You used probably the best 2 sites as examples. Such simple, but informative content that keeps people wanting more. I like your tip about staying cool. Talk to your prospects like you'd talk to you mum.
—-> Adam, yeah mate can't wait for Automator 2.0, our sites are just missing an opt-in to capture the passers-by. Also I have loved your recent blog posts around the place, especially the frog. But you know here in Brissy it'd be a cane toad, and the hole would be some kid with a 9-iron. (Aussie joke)
Keep up the great work gents, can't wait for the FBBC world summit.

Thanks Bedros,
Really good and timely information for a guy building his personal training website as I write this. These strategies just make sense to me. I have heard them before, but you really made them come alive with this blog post. I can SEE it now.

Great examples Bedros.
Thanks for all your tips for us to get to our goals.
Greetings,
Hi Bedros
Some great stuff here…
Would you mind taking a moment to to answer a few questions about capturing the opt in and email marketing…
1) What have you found to be the best bait? eg newsletter – free report etc??
2) Does video on your name capture page improve your opt in rate?
If so any suggestions for copy/script on selling the optin?
Also Steve H recommended that I ask about your optin box?
Cheers

as informative as always…thanks
Great post Bedros! I like the bit about selling the click rather than the product.
Love your work!
What a great idea, sell the click not the product or service. That is the way I will start to market my material.
Thanks
Hey Bedros
Thanks for your awesome tips. Had been starting to use this strategy and seems to work.
FIT PRO… FYI.. has a few lead ins built in… thanks Big Dog Bedros…
