Who The Hell Are “They” (Part 2)

Long time no talk. I typically like taking June and July off and just chilling with the family… we go on trips… hang at the beach…. sleep in a lot…  and work on my “fitness” as my BFF Steve Hochman would say.

I’m blessed to have a business that’s pretty much automated, systematized, and self sustained. I have an awesome team of five behind me who deliver top notch customer service and clients care.

Props to: my wife Diana (who by the way ran her 8th marathon this past weekend in San Diego), Pete, Marilyn, Anna, and Bryn.

(Here’s most of the Keuilian and FBBC crew at Fitness Business Summit 11 a couple months ago. Moments after this picture was taken, more than half the people in it were three sheets to the wind lol).

For those of you who don’t know of Bryn she is my assistant to all things having to do with my mastermind groups. In fact it’s like my mastermind coaching clients have their own “concierge” person within my organization and they ALWAYS get world class services and support (Thank you Bryn).


Unless you’re a mastermind client of mine, you probably have not heard of Bryn. In addition to delivering world class service to my mastermind coaching client she also sets up all the mastermind meetings that take place on resort hotels in Las Vegas and in San Diego. She sets up the meeting rooms, the breakfasts, lunches, and fancy dinners. She even sets up the private night club venues that take place after some mastermind meetings.

Plus she sends out gifts to all my mastermind clients when their birthdays roll around as well as the fancy custom pens, CD’s, and other cool stuff that we hook my mastermind members with.

See, I believe that in addition to giving killer client getting content, systems, scripts, and strategies, you gotta deliver the “WOW” factor to your clients. And if you don’t, then you’re missing out on what I think is one of the most critical parts of client and customer services.

You just can’t go wrong with over delivering value and exceeding your client’s expectations.

And one such client is Rob King. The guy is a machine of an action taker. Let me give you the back story here before I give you the lesson of the day.

Craig Ballantyne and I run the 100K Fitness Info Mastermind group. In this mastermind we teach fitness trainers (who have the passion and desire) to take their idea for an info product like a DVD, ebook, follow along workouts, or membership site to fruition. In this group we teach product creation, lead generation, copy writing, blogging, launches, affiliate getting, and expert position stuff (for a lack of a better word).

Plus we bring in other BIG TIME internet and info marketers as guests from time to time to teach the group some of the things that have worked for them. For example, just recently we’ve had Frank Kern, John Romaniello, Kevin Nations, Joel Marion and Paul Reddick just to name a few guests. So as you can imagine this is a REALLY high level group for serious fitness info marketers.

BTW, I should tell you that both groups of the 100K Info Mastermind are full and at the moment we are NOT accepting new members.

Now, Rob King is a member of this group . And he’s a mega action taker. He’s driven, and he’s mission focused. He doesn’t mind me telling you that he wasn’t always that way. In fact, not to many successful people started off driven, action oriented, and mission focused. We all evolved.

These days Rob is killing it. Without giving away any specific number, lets just say that I’ve seen his shopping cart stats with my own two eyes and hes doing way more than high six figures.

I think you get the point. And there is no one more humble than Rob so you’d never know this fact about him if you were sitting at a bar talking to him.

Here’s what all this has to do with you…

Less than a week ago I got the email below from him. And when I got that email it did two things…

1. It gave me goosebumps

2. It gave me the idea for the email that I wrote to my subscribers just the other day (which you’ll find below Rob’s email to me and Craig). The response to my “who are “they” email was HUGE! Far beyond what I expected for a random rant of mine. But it seems that many people felt the same way I did. You’ll see my email right below this one from Rob.

Here’s the email that Rob sent me:

Like I said earlier, Rob wasn’t always this way. I wasn’t always this way. Many of the top names in fitness or business today where once in a bad place mentally. Ask any of them and they’ll tell you how much self improvement, and mental re-programming they’ve done to get where they’re at.

And one of the BIGGEST things that every successful person will tell you is that your level of success is largely dependent upon two factors:

1. The thoughts that occupy your mind.

2. The people you surround yourself with.

And it was that and Rob’s email to me that got me to write and send out the email below to my subscribers last week (you may have seen it… it’s worth a second read if you have).

Here’s that email:

Listen, I wanna tell you something that I’ve been hearing a lot lately and it has EVERYTHING to do with you, your business, your lifestyle and success.

This morning I went to Starbucks and got myself an iced coffee before training.

I had a few minutes to kill so I chilled a bit out front of Starbucks, enjoying the Chino Hills morning.

A father and his daughter (she was about 11 years old) pulled up. He gave her money to get something for herself and he waited outside for her and started a conversion with a woman who I presume he knows.

I couldn’t help overhearing as he told this woman that “they” said she was over weight.

(I assumed he was referring to his daughter, who was chubby from what I can tell.)

Based on the conversation he and this woman were having, I’m assuming “they” were the little girls school.. maybe the teacher or school nurse.

Anyway, then their conversation changed to the economy and the woman said: “yeah, “they” say the unemployment rate is still going to go up further”.

And “they” say the economy will stay in this state for at least two more years.”

I got up and left. I couldn’t sit there another minute.

Who is “they”?!?

And since when did “they” get to dictate YOUR economy, YOUR security, YOUR income level and YOUR ability to succeed or fail?

“They” are full of shit if you ask me.

Don’t believe “them”.

“They” want YOU to live in fear, scarcity, and doubt.

F that!

“They” are the talking heads on TV.

“They” are the shifty politicians who want you to trust

“They” don’t know anything about YOU.

“They” can’t tell you what you can and can’t achieve.

“They” suck!

Let me tell you something…

YOU are in control.

YOU decide how much you’ll make this week, this month and this year.

YOU will make as much or as little as you want.

YOU will succeed faster when you take massive action.

YOUR success in life is directly aligned with the amount of value you provide the world.

YOU are the master of your destiny… not anyone else.

YOU are in charge of YOUR economy not “them”.

“They” can’t tell you what to do, how to live, how much you can make or when to expect security.

Only YOU can do that.

Believe in YOURSELF.

I believe in YOU.

See, it really doesn’t matter if you’re running a personal training studio, boot camp, doing one-on-one training, small groups, or if you have an idea for a fitness info product. It all starts with your head space… your mindset… and that burning desire to do what it takes, even when faced with the most adverse or circumstances.

ALL success (or failure) is governed by those two things…

1. The thoughts that occupy your mind.

2. The people you surround yourself with.
