Let Me Ask You a Question
The other day I posted a question on my Facebook wall. I want to get more feed back from about it so I thought it would be a good idea to post it here on my blog.
At Fitness Business Summit 11 (taking place in March) I’m going to open up a few spots in my coveted 7 Figure Formula Mastermind group and in the Fitness Info Mastermind group which I run with Craig Ballantyne. But I have a question and need your opinion.
Here is it…

Let me know which you’d get the most value from in the comment box below.
Thanks

Bedros-
Both will be off the hook I am fully confident in that!! What would be included the 4th weekend that would differ from other meetings?
Rock on!

Tough question Bedros. As a new Masterminder, I have to say the jump to 20K is steep. While I completely see the value in it, I think you’ll limit your clientele here. Maybe you’re ok with that. At 20K I think you’re likely to get people who are already well on their way to 7 figures. The pain of 20K will inhibit people newer in the field, I believe. Trainers who are making 60K-ish a year aren’t going to put 1/3 of their income on the line, I don’t think. Yet, they desperately want to access your awesome services. Could you have different levels of Masterminds - the newer folks who aren’t up to 6 figures could still participate in a way (maybe with limitations) where they could build and THEN jump into the 20K group. I know, probably a hassle for you.
I guess it depends on how many people you want to serve. You can serve 10 people for 20K or 20 people for 10K and make the same amount. So are you looking to serve as many people as possible or make a certain amount of money? Depends on your professional goals. Again, tough question. I’ll be curious to see what you decide.
PS - In anticipation of hate mail, I should clarify that you do your job exceptionally well! My business is what it is because of you - that is no secret. I’m just trying to offer some perspective on the issue
.

both, “imo”, have equal value in relation
to cost, education, and ROI.
not too specific..my bad.
Sara, thanks for the perspective. Just so you know, you and all the existing mastermind member will get to lock in the rate you’re on now.

Oh, in that case go for the 20K plan! Kidding…. Thanks for the reply and for hearing me out.
I like the option B. Nothing like a small group meeting with like minded entrepreneurs. I am in.
B,
1) As as a member of the 100K Info Mastermind Group (I should hit 100K within 6 months of being in the group), 20K would be hard to swallow as a first step. Now that I am in it, I say it is no big deal but before joining the group and having some success on my own it would have been hard to swallow 20K. Having 10-15K be step one and then a 25-30K step two with more benefits and access, that sounds cool.
2) About the size of the group. I thought at first a smaller group would be better but I was wrong. I like a larger group. You are able to meet people that you can help that are a step behind you, you can work with people that are at your level and you learn from people that are ahead of you. Plus the people in the group can be project partners, JVs and affiliate. The more you have of each the better.
3) About meetings at HQ, if you wife cooks some stuff off of her website, I am there.
4) As a last point. I have a tough time in putting value on yourself and Craig Ballantyne saying “Do this, don’t do that.” Having you guys look at things for 1 minute and telling me what to do has save me hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars.
P.S. - Looking forward to Vegas in January and FBS in March. I will be there taking photos and doing videos.

For what its worth - I agree with Sara. Newer trainers connot do this. This is not a negative or pessamistic point of view. I would certainly attend one of those groups that I’ve seen where its 1 weekend. I get the impression that this is intended for trainers who are already in the 300 K - 500K bracket- mayber I’m wrong. I am going to be @ FBS11 then I’ll work mý way up. All I know is my honest opinion and impression of Bedros and the various products are positive. What I do know is that you have helped me change my prospective( in a positive way) on training and turning it into a business that is not a job and is always enjoyable.
Right on “the real” Rick! You’re a total action taker and it shows in the numbers you’re producing!
B
Bedros,
I think Sara and Rick bring up great points. At 20K you will be severely limiting the newer motivated trainers out there and would be relying on those making 100K or more per year mostly.
Of course at even 20K they would make their money back no problem and it would be very worth it.
Having a price that “hurts” can be a good motivator for people because they will be much more likely to take action on it.
Can’t wait for the next 6 mastermind meetings next year plus FBS11! You rock and I appreciate how you have radically changed my life.
Thanks B,
Dustin
I have been keeping up with all the Emails, Marketing information and posts in your website and actually I find the information priceless! I am all about having a mentorship. I have been very excited and ready for your upcoming mastermind group. I have recently opened my own personal training studio (3 months) and now money is extremely tight….but at the same time I know if I want to succeed having your support would be amazing! That being said I agree with Rick and Sara the jump from 15k-20k for me right now is tough to come by. It would be awesome if you would have two groups….1 for people like me that just now getting started and another group for folks that are already financially stable. I am excited to see what your final decision will be!
Margarite @ 12:00 pm
How about elaborating a bit more on that 4th group. I like the idea of your HQ’s. It’s close enough for me so I don’t have to take a vacation to get to the destination. But how many days? hours? what’s the $ tag on that? Etc…
Thanks,
Margarite
B,
I’m making 100k between my boot camp and my personal training studio (thanks greatly to your tools fitpro newsletter, pt business course, and System 9). My major issue is I was in a hurt of debt due to dumping my life savings into my studio and my boot camp. Signing up for the mastermind at my rate (as you remember me stepping out and checking in with my wife) was pretty steep. The information i’ve been provided so far is GREAT and I can’t wait for you to pick apart my business on friday, but there is no way I could handle 20k.
Most of my peers in the industry thought I was crazy joining the mastermind group. The others were jealous that I took the plunge and i’m following through. You will see that i’ve taken massive action since the Info Blueprint seminar. It’s only because it hurt to shell out the money that I took it seriously. The price point you had it at was enough for me and your average 50-60k trainer in the game.
In 6 months from this time I will be in a similar boat to Rick and have the same sentiment. For now, I know moving it up would be a little too much for most, but leaving it the same price would still hurt, but allow for more people to partake.
I will have to agree with Sara and Paul, I have only been a FBBC member since August and just opened a stand alone FBBC in October. Altough I would love to participate in the Mastermind group it is well out of my leaque right now. Hopefully in the future I can work that into my budget, but for right now I am just worried about getting bodies in my bootcamp.
paul davis @ 1:08 pm
Trisha, I guess you, Sara, Zach Fernando and I will be the next wave of trainers to move up the ranks. We’ll get there someday
You should have one of your allstar masterminds teach the beginner trainers at a lower rate and teach the basics(so youre not waisting your time always repeating yourself), then as they evolve, they can take the masters programs that you would personally offer at a higher investment.
Offer both Bedros
Hey y’all, first off thank you so much for your feedback. Very cool and helpful.
I guess I should have said that these mastermind groups are not for trainers
just starting out or just getting by. These are for trainers who want to get to multiple six figures and even 7
figs and are currently in a position where they can stretch a little but make this investment.
Trainers starting out can join my 21 day business make over which I’m gonna launch next week (only $1997),
or come to Fitness Business Summit, or buy anyone of my product (which you can find on the right hand column
of this blog) that can get you to $100k a year or more when you take action on them.
Rock on!
B
Hey there Bedros. I know that learning from you from a time even before YOU knew how good you were is trully priceless. That is why anytime I can tell my story about you to anyone else that calls me about any of your products I give nothing but good news to them.
See I got to be one of the fortunate ones that worked with you in the slums of our old stomping grounds in La Habra. But I dont know if you remember the day that my life turned around from one meeting with you at the Dahl residence for a party. See, I have my B.S. in Health Science from CSUF and wants doing anything with it. I was a termite inpector and happy making $500 a week + bonus. But when we talked at the party and I found out what you were doing, I just honestly wanted a hook up to go and workout somewhere for free. So told me to do something with my degree and be a trainer at your gym. So I did and changed my life forever.
I started off as a trainer and honed my skills. Then you told me to quit my job as a termite inspector and become a sales manager for your training team. It was reallly tough for me to leave a forsure thing, but I made the leap!
After falling in love with my profession and becoming the best trainer in the world, I have successfully opened up my first location with a long time friend Conway and with in half the year, our gym is on pace to break $75,000 in half the year.
Your sales and marketing products have helped us grow into the most powerful gym in La Habra, Whittier, or La Mirada.
Thank You Pete!

@Joseph, thanks for the kind words man! glad I talked you into quiting that job years ago. You’re destined for fitness and now you dominate!
B
I think you should do option #2- if you must charge more, with fee #1, if you must! Not that you are not great at building value, but to increase your fee, increase your offerings, right? It would already be $3000 dollars higher that at present! That’s bank with 10, 15, 20 people Bedros~
But We know that is what you are going to do anyway. … ;-D
What is the justification for the price increase between Option A and Option B? Is it feasible to do a “soft” price change in a test market to gauge client reaction?
braigz @ 7:35 am
Does option B come with a free salmon dinner? (And I mean that wild Alaskan stuff, not that farmed stuff.)
I guess for me personally the travel time is always an issue. Finding time to get away from the business is not difficult, but leaving my busy family of 5 kids with many activities for 3 days at a pop is always a challenge. So for me less travel is better. Since I will attend FBS and mastermind 5 travel stops gets to be a lot especially since I have other travel engagements. We will get the option to choose one package or the other? Why not just give us the freedom!
AS for the hater……yikes who wants to hire an MBA…..I mean seriously how can they help us in the fitness business. Nothing against MBA’s at all. I don’t think he has ever priced serious business coaches either. I had a great one for a year, but decided to switch to Bedros because his prices were cheaper! B note raise your price! Good Business coaches in various areas, marketing, sales, business management, financial planning whatever cost good money. My first business coach gave me one good idea and my sales conversion rate doubled! Bedros help me raise it even more. I don’t know going for a 370k business to a 500k business seems worth 10k a year for Bedros. I don’t have an MBA, but my PhD says trade 10k for 230k every year, every time. Dec, Jan and Feb we should hit 60k/month doubling where I was when I started with Bedros. I am thankful for Bedros this Thanksgiving!
Yikes I haven’t even hit the booze this morning. I meant increasing my business 130k seems worth 10k to me everytime. But the big reality is I have grown my monthly income from 31-32k, to over 45k and am on pace for Dec-Feb to break 60k. So in 6-8 months I may double my monthly revenues. Of course Bedros didn’t do it, I did it. You have to take his ideas and systems and put them into action! Something tells me if Bedros wasn’t helping people grow their businesses at amazing rates his mastermind groups would be dwindling not exploding. Bedros raises your prices (just not for me)

Dude, you know you are worth every penny. Being a masterminder, you totally make your money back. I can’t wait to see what this special 4th meeting is! So I can’t answer that unless I knew more about it which I will find out soon. Rock on!
Troy Dodson @ 9:19 am
Bedros,
As you know, I attended the last 21-day Biz Makeover Mastermind and am now a current member of your 7-figures Mastermind Group. The 21-day Biz Mastermind catapulted my gross revenue up by 50% in just 30 days (and still climbing). Having attended just one of each of the small group and large group sessions, my observations of the sessions are as follows:
1.) Overall I got more substantially more value from the hands on, personal discussions with you that took place in the smaller group (this may be due in large part to the fact that I asked way more questions than I did in the larger group)
2.) The connections, support and energy one can derive from the large group meeting is unparalleled, and I would feel like I am missing out on that if I only attended the smaller group sessions.
So, they are both valuable, they are valuable for different reasons. Having said that, when I got started with you I was not a new trainer but I was a trainer who was making ends meet and your current pricing was a stretch for me at that time.
If you want to make yourself more exclusive, and offer greater value to less trainers (albeit more successful trainers) then Option B would be the way to go in my opinion because the smaller group is more valuable and the higher cost would limit the # of trainers who participate while theoretically raising the value each trainer brings to the table already.
Writing this post made me think of an idea for you to consider, it is something I would see as even more valuable and could become a great feeder system into the higher cost MM programs. It would be to have small working groups (4-6) within the MM program which allow:
1.) MM members specialize in various high value topics such as on systemization of the biz, maketing, sales, client retention, advanced list building, etc. depending on where that owner is with their biz and the areas they need to focus on.
2.) Allow the small teams to do a lot of the support work for each other in their business building efforts based on your coaching and leadership so that you are not doing one on one phone calls all the time (every new MM member = X new phone calls, which at some point is not sustainable)
I am not sure if I am conveying this concept very clearly, but I think it could help trainers get more structure and support in the areas they need to focus on while allowing you greater leverage. And if implemented outside of the MM program could help trainers build their income and progress to the programs that offer more access to you at higher cost to them.
This is too much thinking for a Sunday morning! Hope this helps.

Wow no love from MJL! LOL! I definitely like Option B. I’m a huge believer in small group and/or one on one time with highly experienced people. It’s worth it’s weight in gold to me!
