How Fitness Business Entreprenuers and Olympic Athletes Are Just Alike

As an entrepreneur, you and I can learn a lot from the Olympic athletes in Sochi, Russia.

Think about this; if each time you stopped and asked yourself when you felt stuck, discouraged, frustrated or exhausted “What would an Olympian do?” - and then actually did it, you’d come out on the other side victorious and feeling accomplished, wouldn’t you?

The reason Olympians are at the level they’re at is because whether they fail at something once, a hundred times or a thousand times, they’ve got no quit in them… they forge on until they get it right and become the best at their event.Screen Shot 2014-02-10 at 1.24.07 PM

They let nothing internal or external stop them from achieving what they know is their purpose.

“When anyone tells me I can’t do anything, I’m just not listening anymore.”- Florence Griffith Joyner, gold medalist in track -1988

In life and in business there are endless roadblocks that you’ll encounter - just consider each of those a test, a gut check to see if you have what it really takes to make it.

Don’t look at these roadblocks as a sign that you’re not cut out for this… it’s just a test of your will and determination.

Those roadblocks are there for a reason - don’t stop. Smash through them!

“I am building a fire, and every day I train, I add more fuel. At just the right moment, I light the match.” — Mia Hamm, gold medalist in women’s soccer

Olympic athletes don’t give up, they just don’t.

Olympic athletes don’t give up because what’s at stake is much too valuable for them to risk loosing. That’s how YOU should look at your business

…what’s at stake is your freedom, your lifestyle, your child’s education and future… and your security as you grow older.

It comes down to hard work, determination, and perseverance.

If you want what you want bad enough, then you’ll put your excuses on the shelf and do what you need to do to get there.

No Olympic athlete got to the Olympic games purely because of luck or chance.

Each of them arrive at their opening ceremonies as a result of months and years of dedicating themselves to something that they’re passionate about.

When everyone else left the field, they stayed hours later and practiced. They did this for months on end because what they were working toward is something that they had incredible passion for.

Much like you and your business… you’re passionate about fitness and helping your clients. But maybe you’re not quite there.

Maybe you need more clients, or better marketing, or more consistency in your income…

Whatever it is, you’ve got to train at it and get better than any of your competitors. The worst place you can be is in the middle of the herd… or worse, behind it.

Athletics, just like entrepreneurship, is a game of preparedness.

“If you fail to prepare, you’re prepared to fail.” — Mark Spitz, winner of 7 gold medals.

I can tell you this from personal experience… it’s NOT impossible… if you want something bad enough, you can have it.

I say that as someone who’s come from a communist country - poor and broke - and without knowing a single word of English.

And today I have the life of my dreams because each and every day I get to wake up and do what I know is my purpose in life… to help others in the fitness industry reach their defined level of success.

“Nothing is impossible. With so many people saying it couldn’t be done, all it takes is an imagination.” — Michael Phelps, U.S. gold medalist in swimming.

Remember these words - NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE!
