Help Me Name My Goat

Posted on March 19, 2010 By Bedros

I made an impulse purchase yesterday.

Within an hours I heard about, researched (on youtube) and bought a
goat.

But it’s not just any goat, it’s a pygmy goat which pretty much means they figured out how to make a former farm animal small and cute and get suckers like me to buy them.

But I need YOUR help.

We can’t decide what to name the little fella. So my wife jokingly said to make blog post out of it… and so here it is.

Help me name my goat. Just give me your best pet goat names below. I’ll reduce it down to the top three I like and let Andrew and Chloe pick the best name.

Oh, and check out this video where Steve Hochman, Michael Duivis, and I attempt to bring the goat to my house to surprise everyone on the day my wife’s entire family flew in to visit :)

Dan @ 8:13 am

I would name him Archie for Archos which in latin means ruler or leader. I have a feeling that little goat is going to run the Keuilian housedold. See you in April.

JJ Robertson @ 8:16 am

Juan Paco - that’s the name of the Columbian coffee guy… well, his name is Juan and the mule’s name is Paco… I don’t know why… but I like coffee… a lot.. Juan Paco Keuilian…

What a cutie. What a great idea for a pet for the kids. You could call him Capra (goat), Capricious, because you know he will get into a lot of trouble or better yet, Pan — the flute playing goat god who charms the nymphs and gets wild and crazy? I want to see the photos of you holding him when he drinks from his baby bottle!!

Have fun and thanks Bedros for including us!

Kiel Hinrichs @ 10:32 am

Off the subject a bit, but I think you got plenty of names to choose from. Am I the only one who saw that the kid face plants on the concrete in the back but no one notices because the goat is being introduced?

Jonathan Lerner @ 10:45 am

hahaha wow that is awesome Bedros. I love the look on Di’s face once she noticed the goat and realized that it wasn’t a joke! Priceless.

As for names here’s a few: Boomer, Ceasar, Hercules, Taz, and last but not least, Steve.

Better not let Leonard Wankerski find that goat. Never know what he would do with him!

Richo @ 2:29 pm

Hockman

Blake @ 3:06 pm

Im thinkin. . . Don Juan De Marco!!!

RB @ 4:21 pm

I recommend naming him after something you want him to emulate. i have worked with animals and they all seem to emulate their names. Great names to mirror (in my opinion, obviously:) sweetness, honey, sugar, Gus or Pearl (my dog’s names) I just like the name Bubba for a little goat, or maybe a human name like steve (after you-know-who… I am sure he would be touched) or frank, lurleen, biggie smalls- related to the pygmy (a shout out to Notorious B.I.G.. RIP) Chica (O), Billy, or maybe just straight up goat or goaty. Can you tell I love naming things.

That’s it for now. Thanks for the great blogs. Have fun with the adorable goat!

Happy Friday!

Raquel

Scott Williams, CSCS, ACSM H/FS, LMT @ 4:49 pm

How about FLEX.

Hello, Bedros

Bro, that seem like something I would do. As far as a name goes I think Lil Mac is a great name. Good luck with the goat.
You May want to keep Steve away from your goat.

Brenda @ 5:06 pm

How ’bout BlackJack. Two strong syllables. I also like Bubba. Again with the syllabic strength. Paco, also good.

dan @ 6:42 pm

Kurt @ 4:30 am

I have a Beta named “Mongol”. I’ve always liked that name, after seeing the movie “Blazing Saddles” years ago. People always remember the name.

Dustin @ 5:53 am

I think the best name would be “Passive” as in passive income.

As your goat grows bigger so will your passive income streams!

Makes sense in my head at least :)

Dustin

Angelo @ 7:34 am

Pancho Diablo
Kid Pancho

Deb Shiemke @ 7:41 am

YUMMY!

Chad Alfords @ 7:45 am

“Bill” Would be great name for that little guy!

Sara Hutniak @ 9:24 am

Hey Bedros,
I would have to agree with Dexter (that was the name of my huge German Shepherd).
But another name for your goat could be Kevin (that was the name of that rare bird in the animated movie UP - and every time I think of that it makes me laugh)!
Good luck on a name.
-Sara Hutniak

ron @ 11:55 am

You should name him Apollo or BlackDevil.

March 21, 2010

Simon Lovell @ 8:13 am

Sordeb!

Billy obviously!

Fred Noten @ 12:32 pm

impulse :)

Jacob Mcluskie @ 1:57 pm

If you are going to use him as your company mascott how bout a name like “freedom”. Kinda lame i know but i see him as a representation of what we are all trying to achieve, to be able to run successful businesses that allow us financial freedom and time to do what we want to do. Alot of the people who comment on this post (me included) wouldn’t dream of doing something like buying a baby goat beacause of the time it would take up as we’re too busy in our businesses. Your blog is all about trying to achieve freedom in our lives.

Just a thought.
Thanks Bedros!

TC @ 4:52 pm

Hey how about “Blackie”?

Tally @ 7:12 pm

lol..I vote for buuuudddy..lol

O-M-G I kinda want a pygmy goat now. Bedros, you’ve started something baaaaadddd. And I live in NYC. I wonder if it’s even legal here.

As for names what about Manchego. And you can call him Manny for short. Are you gonna bring him to FTB Summit??

I want one! I’m such a sucker for cute animals. Does it get along with cats??

March 28, 2010

Rob Simonelli @ 7:03 pm

I want a goat now! I would call him “Pedro”.

March 29, 2010

Tanika OWens @ 10:49 am

Orbit!

June 6, 2010

denise @ 4:23 pm

You should name your goat after a great east coast legend, “Goatman”, and if he is going to be your company mascot call him GM for short.

Good Luck, D. Best

Bedros,

Do you still have to goat? Either way, its a great way to make
memories for your family.

August 1, 2010

Renee @ 5:33 pm

Goats are herd animals and will not be happy alone. You need
to buy another goat or find him/her another home.

November 13, 2010

Sharon Hall @ 12:29 pm

Impulse buy? You’re kidding right?? (no pun intended) I feel quite concerned about this poor little goat. You should have done a little research before getting him. Especially a male goat which will stink when it gets bigger unless castrated. Bucks also can get a lot of attitude and aren’t good to have around young children. Do you still have this goat? I sure hope you found a home for it ON A FARM with OTHER GOATS since they are herd animals & do not do well alone or in the suburbs.

May 13, 2011

Donna Keith @ 10:33 am

I’m assuming it’s a male goat . . and they will tend to be more hairy than females, . . definitely more stinky if allowed to breed.

Anyway, our male is named Gandolf, and we had another one named Pancho. More ideas for you.
