Adam Awesome Post!!

I love this stuff. I was just feeling overwhelmed and I now know its because of the HOW. Thanks again!

Dave Lambert @ 6:00 pm

Great stuff Adam. Nice piece of motivation from another fellow Aussie. I’ll have to stop in to attend one of your kick ass bootcamps in Toronto at the end of the year when I’m up that way.

Steve Payne @ 6:09 pm

AT is the man!

Great stuff my friend. You’re dead on.

Lisa Sentner @ 6:16 pm

The “why” in my life is to help individuals feel connected and present in their everyday life through a physical fitness method called Pilates.

Mark Slaney @ 6:41 pm

Great talk as it would be from an NLP practitioner/life coach but I cant help thinking this man is just a little too out of shape to be profiting from the fitness industry or at least have his own Boot Camp site…

I love the sales and marketing aspect of this and you certainly don’t have to be Arnie to run a successful fitness business but I feel it is slowly going in the wrong direction when anyone starts selling ‘Body Transformations’ hidden behind a glossy website and great marketing strategy when some of these guys could do with a few session with a PT themselves… No disrespect intended.

Great Video!

All the motivation is great and all!

If you the fuel for your have passion, drive and purpose already… then how?

You can ask anyone I know!

If you don’t know marketing your F*****.

Until I got introduced to Bedros our marketing light turned on!

Great job Adam.
I used to do this back in the day. When I was in Amway - they called it dream-building.
We would test drive cars we couldn’t afford, look at homes we aspired to live in, and browsed through high end department stores.
I gotta use this with my clients more - very effective.
“I want to lose weight”. Why do you want to lose weight? “I want to look better”. Why do you want to look better?

Great job Adam - the light-bulb went off!!!
(btw, was it coffee with me, lol?)

Marlon John @ 10:36 pm

WOW!! I was driving myself crazy all month trying to figure out how I am going to get more clients in my Boot Camp. This video really motivated me, I am now going to focus on the WHY. Thanks.

Josh Henri @ 10:52 pm

Thanks adam, awesome motivation. My why is my family. My dad worked harder than anyone to provide for us growing up. For that I thank him and respect him beyond words. But the by-product of that was he did miss some of the stuff growing up. I want to give my family the same passion and hard work to provide but I want to it without sacrificing my time with them. Personal training will give me the financial security with the freedom to do what I want. Not only that I want to make a real impact on peoples lives. Now that im pumped let do some squats!!

nice one

Thanks Adam,

It certainly has been my experience that the Why takes care of the How. Too often we forget and try and do things in reverse order of what might serve us best. Thanks for the reminder!

Cheers Mate ;)

Alan beck @ 6:33 pm

I somewhat disagree with this, The How is whats going to make you get to where you want to go, its all your planning for where you want to be. If you didn’t plan you wouldn’t get anything done. I always write down how am i going to do this and how am i going to do that, i always come up with the best answer for me to do it. Whereas if i just write down why i wanted to do it i would still be in the same position because i wouldn’t come up with a plan to get me to where i wanted to be at.. thats just my opinion

Adam Toohey @ 7:42 pm

@Brandon

Happy to help mate - all the best

@Dave - more than happy to have ya mate. Hit me up on facebook and keep in touch.

Adam Toohey @ 7:46 pm

Chad - Marketing is one of THE keys no doubt

For all the trainers that are out there beneftiting from Bedros; stuff there are those that also are not. Purely because they aren’t utilising it. This was one of them.

Appreciate the comments mate

Adam Toohey @ 7:50 pm

Alan - thanks for the thoughts.

Sounds like you have a great system working for you. I know people that write the plan and come up with the hows but still yet fail to follow through. That then usually ties into the why - why they not taking action could be lack of passion. Seen it too often with other trainers I previously worked with as well.

Good on you for figuring out what works for you

ALl the best

Good post Adam. It’s the “why” that I try to get potential clients to focus on because I know I will provide the “how” for them.

Awesome video post mate!
This reminds me of the situation when I was telling my clients to establish the emotional reasons why they want to lose those extra weight. I guess there is similarity here in achieving a certain level of success in fitness business. Thanks again Adam!

Dave @ 4:50 pm

GREAT POST Adam!!!!

I needed that. As a trainer there’s tons of times I remind my clients of what they need to do, or where they need to refocus their attention but I usually forget to do it for myself.

THANKS

you just made my day

Awesome post! Very motivating!
My WHY?: To show people that fitness can be fun and help them achieve goals they never thought they could…there is nothing more motivating for me than to see one of my clients complete an event like the Breast Cancer 3-Day or have my 60 year old client complete her first half marathon!
I feed off their motivation like and feed off of mine…Thanks for the reminder!

Hi Adam,
I almost through my NLP Practitioner course and what I have learned, and tend to agree with, is the why is important for sure, but the outcome won’t happen without the “how” are you going to do it. Ultimately, you have to do the work.
The overwhelm that the person you were describing needs to chunk it down into small attainable goals, and set progressively higher goals over time and keep the momentum.
I do agree (and correct me if I am wrong, but I think this is what you are saying), that your proposed goal must be consistent with the way you see yourself… which is your purpose and your values. And yes, you need to want it bad enough so you don’t quit at the first obstacle.
