The Best Advice I Ever Got
The best advice I ever got was from someone who is now one of my business partners. He’s a smart guy, has lots of experience and earns eight figures a year.
But before we were business partners he was my client and I was a one man personal training business - maybe you can relate. I trained him every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 5:00 PM like clockwork.
One day, after a particularly grueling morning and afternoon I looked at him and said Jim, how do I become like you?”
His advice to me was “get a little bit of money from a lot of people.”
I nodded my head and went on with the session.
Later that night as I was driving home and it hit me like a lead pipe. Get a little bit of money from a lot of people!
The very next day I had a game plan.
1. I would hire trainers to work for me. Effectively they would be my service providers and I would be the face of the company. (Within 4 month my monthly income doubled and then doubled again.)
2. I would get a little bit of money from a lot of people by hand writing weekly workouts and selling them to clients who could not afford one-on-one training or simple didn’t want to train in a gym. (Increased income by a modest $1200/month.
And the glue that held the whole thing together was EFT (electronic fund transfer). Recurring payments, membership or continuity programs - it doesn’t really matter what you call it - It works! Sell once and make money over and over again.
Later on that workout on a word doc became Hitech Trainer and that one facility grew to multiple locations. Not bad for a guy who used to live on the Diet coke and tuna mixed in a blender.
That’s a story for another day
Today I’m 33, live in my dream house, drive my dream car, get to work from home and be close to my wife and kids.
My advice to you: “Get a little bit of money from a lot of people.”
