Why You Need To Stop Believing You’re A Special Snowflake (Part 1)

One thing I’ve been hearing a lot about is the fact that I’m a unique snowflake.

And what I mean by that is, well, when you say things like “my community’s different. My clients think differently. The economy here in my area is different, or my competition is different. I’m unique in the way I provide my service.”

And I’m here to tell you that you are not a unique snowflake. There’s nothing unique and different about you.

What you don’t know about me is that I’ve coached, consulted, and sold fitness business building courses to 43,000 personal trainers worldwide – which covers 22 different countries. We’ve done the math.

Odds are, it probably helps someone who is in your community, or who is in a very similar demographic or area. There is nothing unique and special about you.

Why am I saying this?

I’m not trying to put you down. What I want to tell you is, you’ve gotta get that limiting belief out of your mind. Believe it or not, that’s a limiting belief.

I look at myself as a cockroach and a weed; I am forever resilient.

No bad economy can stop me, no bad society can stop me, and no competition can stop me because I’ve got a product that is so valuable and so desperately wanted from the people in the community that I serve, that nothing will stop me in my mission.

In fact, it was 2008 or 2009, at the peak of the market crash, that I started creating marketing material to launch Fit Body Boot Camp as a franchise.

Today, we have over 500 locations worldwide.

We are one of the fastest growing franchises on the planet. Just a few months ago, Inc Magazine put us in the top 5000 fastest growing businesses on the planet, that’s out of 18 million businesses.

So why did that happen? Because I’ve got a relentless attitude that no matter how bad the economy, no matter how congested the franchise space, no matter how many fitness franchises there are, I’ve got a product that’s better.

I’m more passionate about it, and I have a purpose  to create 2000-2500 Fit Body Boot Camp locations worldwide, where through the Fit Body Boot Camp owners I can help more people get fit.

It’s about the mindset of being relentless – being like a weed or a cockroach that can survive anything.

No matter the condition or weather, there’s no spray that you can buy from Home Depot that you can spray on a regular garden weed that could actually kill it permanently. That damn thing keeps coming back stronger, more resilient, bigger and better. And the reason is, it’s on a mission. It’s as simple as that.

See, the orchid is a beautiful little flower, and everybody wants an orchid because it’s beautiful and it has so many great colors.

But people don’t realize how fragile the orchid is.

If the humidity changes, or the soil changes, or you plant something too close to an orchid, it dies. So while it’s beautiful to look at, don’t be impressed by it, don’t try and model yourself after an orchid.

I want you to model yourself after a weed. Be resilient, be everywhere all the time. Omnipresence.

So, let me prove another point to you. Let’s say I go “hey, I want you to go and get another 100 clients in the next 7 days”. If there was a gun to my head that would shoot me dead at the end of 7 days if I didn’t get those 100 clients, you can bet I’d get it done fast.

I operate from this gun to the head mentality. Like it’s a do or die situation. That’s how passionate I am about making an impact in our industry.

So, if you had 7 days, and I took away every marketing strategy that we gave you, and said “You gotta get 100 new paying clients or I’m gonna shoot you in the head,” guess what you’re gonna do?

You’re gonna find a way to get it.

Here’s what I would do, and I’m guessing you’d probably do the same thing.

I’d wake up every morning and go up and down the streets, knocking on doors, giving the most passionate pitch.

Here’s what I would say:

“Hi, my name is Bedros Keulian and I’m the owner of the fitness boot camp right down the street. Well, I want to let you know that I’m a man on a mission. I want to help 5000 local residents by the year 2020. And I want to help them through fitness and fat loss to overcome their health and sickness issues, and help them impact their family in a better way. Now, if you have any weight to lose, or health you want to improve, I want to offer you two free workouts right now. Hell, I’ll go one better. I want to sign you up right now at your front door, Mrs. Jones, because I promise you will get the results that you want”.

Now, it might mean 1000 doors or 3000 doors, and my closing percentage might be only 1%.

But I promise you this, I will get the 100 people, because I will go with a passionate pitch and I will not leave until I convince them that if they sign up right here and now, that I will give them a 30 day unconditional money back guarantee.

Then, they can come and start doing their workout first thing tomorrow morning. I’ll give them a meal plan and nutrition plan on top of that for free. I’m going to put them in my private Facebook group, and make sure they’re motivated and held accountable.

I’m going to give them the support system that they’ve always been missing.

Now, I’m not asking you to go out and knock on 5000 doors in 7 days. You certainly can, but it just depends on how relentless and obsessed enough you get.

But it’s so much easier to just say, “I’m a unique snowflake. My economy’s different. My clients are different. They don’t give me referrals. People don’t want to pay that much money, people don’t value fitness.”

That’s bullshit.

Georgia Southern University did a study that more people are struggling to lose weight now than ever before.

So you and I are in more demand than ever before. You can’t use the excuse that nothing works in your area.

What I can tell you is that if you get this relentless, obsessed mentality, and operate like there’s a gun to your head, in as little as 7 days you can get 100 new clients.

If you wake up every morning at 6 am and knock on doors until 6 pm with a perfected pitch, passion, and a fire in your belly, people will sign up. I promise you, you might need to knock on 1000 doors, 5000 doors, or even 10000 doors.

You might have blisters on your feet when you’re done, your tongue might want to fall out of your mouth when you’re done, but I promise you this – you can get those 100 clients.

So my question to you is, how hungry are you?

Are you just a person who barks but doesn’t bite?

Are you a person who doesn’t really want to be a successful entrepreneur, and would rather come up with excuses to hang out in the sea of mediocrity versus being a high performer?

I’m gonna leave that with you, but I promise you this. You are not a unique snowflake.

Committed to your success,

Bedros
