Hey mate I'm with you all the way! College wasn't for me either. I have bought your dvd and watched it over and over, I would say the dvd is more sales polishing class.

I had discussion with another PT at the gym and he had an issue with me learning how to sell and changing tactics he said "If your product is good enough you shouldn't have to learn how to sell it" which is partly true. However, you could have the best and most potent technique ever created but if you do not know how to structure a sales presentation you'll waste a lot of time and money fluffing it up and winging it.

This guy should have written of to more online colleges and mentors with the same rant and see what response he gets. A lot of the colleges teach what you already know the difference is you get that bit of paper at the end that allows you to get insured!!

I also signed up for your newsletter, its genius I'm in constant contact with all my clients and they love the free info and it keeps my name in their head. I hade a seasonal Bootcamp a year ago and decided to add all my Bootcamp contacts from it to my newsletter, now one of my clients who I haven't spoken to in over a year is recommending me to her company for a corporate Bootcamp!! get in!

Keep going!! because you're in contact with so many people there will always be who don't agree with what you do, its just opinion.

Hey Bedros! 12/10/09

I think Tom sounds abit jealous myself. He thinks that going to college and getting a degree is THE ONLY way to be great at selling/marketing PERSONAL TRAINING SERVICES. I would STRONLY DISAGREE WITH THAT PREMISE!

I happen to actual purchase some of your products...like the DVD....closing 9 out of 10 clients...all the information on it was TOP NOTCH...no filler. I would ask Tom to have all those so-called degree Harvard types to show us the SELLING/MARKETING materials they have made available to the public. Probably amounts to next to nothing! If they have any at all its probably alot of psycho fitness BABBLE. Nothing that even remotely comes close to the NUTS AND BOLTS REAL FITNESS ACUMEN THAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE! I don't know you personally...but to me you have always come off as genuine and authentic! Your passion for helping people in the fitness industry comes through loud and clear... and you GIVE AWAY SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH REAL CONTENT...for FREE...I am sure that Tom's buddy the Dr. of Fitness does that too! NOT!
I am very impressed with your knowledge, innovations, drive and fitness prowess. You are on the CUTTING EDGE and way ahead as far as future thinking in this industry. I just read your post on 2010...the things that you are predicting...GREAT CONTENT...AS USUAL. I am a PERSONAL TRAINER from SOUTH JERSEY ...10 MIN SOUTH EAST OF PHILADELPHIA. I've been training and selling Personal Training for over 10 years...i WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL working in the BIG BOX GYMS. Of late i have been working on gettin my own biz off the ground. I am struggling abit with it ...trying to get more HOME -BASED private clients hasn't been as easy as I thought it would be. ANYWAY... don't LOSE ANY SLEEP (like you would anyway...LOL) over Tommy boys post...there's always going to be nay-sayers and negative types out there. For every TOM TYPE out there...there are hundreds of REAL FITNESS PROFESSIONALS WHO KNOW THAT YOU are THE REAL DEAL! As we all know...some of the MOST TALENTED,SUCCESSFUL, INGENIOUS, RESOURCEFUL PEOPLE ...like Thomas Edison, Ben Franklin, HENRY FORD...ETC..never had any FORMAL TRAINING...YET they had MONUMENTAL IMPACT on all of us.

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK YOU DO FOR THIS INDUSTRY AND THE PEOPLE THAT WORK IN IT!

Sincerely,
paul barrett

I was able to get great ideas from Bedros and I don't feel like anything is a get rich quick scheme. I Work at a gym and do private training here and there and I love the idea of turning your current clients into referral generators. If you train genuinely from the heart, the clients know that. If you take some tips from Bedros on marketing yourself .. more people will be touched by your genuine love for helping others get fit. period.

I usually do not commit but this was worth it.There's always a hater in every sport. I am a prior vet from the Army and oviously this guy could not hack it in the Army so it sounds like he's a bit bitter. Continue to do your thing Bedro's and keep up the great work.

Who knows...maybe this guy thinks that you're untouchable and that the only way to reach you for any advice is to buy coaching from you for so much per year/or per hour (or put up a harsh post?).

Sometimes as a little guy, things can be out of reach.

You are obviously a busy guy Bedros, and you could not possibly talk to every single PT on the planet asking for advice (which is why I believe this blog was created).

I think it must have been a bad day for him.

Sorry, I was trying to look at things a little more from his angle.

Thx for everything you do. I love fitpro, your art of selling and I am looking fwd to attending a Fitness Summit to meet you personally.

Rob

Hi Bedros,

Thought I would share my thoughts as well.

I spoke with a representative last week from an ACSM regional chapter. The younger man in charge of putting the regional meeting together was interested in having me come and speak on some of the topics I cover over at FitnessProBlogger.

Specifically, I'm working right now on some cool stuff that shows fitness pros how to take advantage of social media and build their personal brand online.

They were also interested in having me as a vendor and on their expert panel, and I was interested in being involved in all facets of the program.

End Result?

The Board of Scientific Experts and college professors were 'uncomfortable' with the idea because they want to maintain the scientific integrity of the meetings. The representative I spoke with was very disappointed. He felt there was tremendous value in what I was proposing and that it would be of great benefit to the members.

Ultimately, it is likely I won't attend the event at all because without the chance to present there is little chance I will generate the ROI I need to justify the trip. And in the mean time, students and young professionals in the ACSM will miss out on an opportunity to learn some valuable business skills.

We have to remember that most people don't own their own businesses and are not entrepreneurs. That is just a fact. And that as a result, they don't think like us, act like us, or need to see the strategy behind what we do because someone else is responsible for cutting their paychecks.

The challenge is in finding ways to educate fitness professionals about business outside the University setting. Because it is certainly isn't happening inside.

He is a hater and the message wasn't entirely constructive. There is something there though. Unless I've missed it, the products do appear to be sold/marketed on the assumption that the prospect or customer is qualified. Perhaps it would be more professional to stipulate that all marketing products are only available to qualified and registered fitness/exercise professionals. You could even demand a registration no. at the point of sale. The UK has the Register Of Exercise Professionals. Know-one could complain then, not even Tom! But yes, we don't want these money-making systems to fall into the wrong hands, there are a ton of cowboys out there and Bedros does not want to be associated with them. PT's already have a rep for being money grabbers with no integrity which we must get away from. Amen. Thank you for all the free info by the way, Bedros I'm still in the middle of your marketing funnel...for now.

OK, normally this kind of baloney never gets a comment from me, but since Bedros needs it ;-), here comes:

"so maybe you should publish a real book and see if the REAL WORLD will buy it….."

So you're intending to say that the money that Bedros has made from his products is not REAL? Judging from the house shown in the "Who is Bedros" video, that's a very REAL-WORLD house you know.

Let's dust off your University textbooks for a moment. In case you've forgotten, Peter Drucker the management guru said:

“The purpose of business is to create and keep a customer.”

That's what Bedros does. Do you also?

PS. Envy is bad for your health, but green spinach is good.
